Clear terms for online prices and bookings.
These terms explain the difference between a guide estimate, an estimated-price visit and a fixed-price booking.
1. Who the contract is with
The contracting legal entity, trading address and customer-service contact details will be displayed here and at checkout before online payment is activated. “Handy-Man London”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that contracting business.
2. AI helper and information supplied by the customer
The AI helper cannot inspect the property. It prepares prices from the description, quantities, measurements, photographs, product links, model numbers, wall or surface type, existing pipework and electrical connections, access, parking and other answers supplied by the customer.
The customer must check the final job summary and correct anything inaccurate before booking. The customer is responsible for providing information that is accurate and complete to the best of their knowledge. The AI helper does not replace a physical inspection where the condition of the property, compatibility of an item or cause of a fault is uncertain.
3. Guide estimates
A guide estimate is an indicative range only. It is not a fixed price and is not an offer to perform unlimited work within that range. The final price will depend on the actual work, materials and site conditions.
4. Estimated-price visits
Where the customer is uncertain about existing conditions or product compatibility, the customer may choose an estimated-price visit. A £75 attendance and assessment charge is payable to reserve the visit. If the customer accepts the price and the work proceeds, the £75 is credited against the final invoice.
No additional work will be carried out without the customer’s agreement. Where the customer decides not to proceed after the assessment, the £75 remains payable for attendance, travel, time and assessment.
5. Fixed-price bookings
A fixed price applies only to the exact work, quantities, selected products, conditions, inclusions, exclusions and assumptions listed in the final quote. The quote must be accepted before its stated expiry time.
If the information supplied is accurate and the job found on arrival matches the listed scope and assumptions, the fixed price remains the agreed price even if the work takes us longer than expected.
6. Inaccurate information, incompatible items and undisclosed conditions
If materially inaccurate or incomplete information, an incompatible customer-selected product, incorrect measurements, inaccessible services or undisclosed site conditions prevent the work being completed safely within the fixed scope, we will explain the issue and may offer a revised quote.
If the revised quote is accepted, the amount already paid is credited towards it. If the revised quote is declined after attendance, the unused balance is refunded less the disclosed £75 attendance and assessment charge and any additional cost that the customer expressly approved in advance.
The £75 deduction will not apply where the problem was caused by our error, by our failure to take account of information that was clearly supplied, or by our failure to provide the agreed service with reasonable care and skill.
7. Selected products and retailer links
Where the customer sends a retailer link, the website may extract the product name, model or code, displayed price and retailer. The customer must confirm that the extracted item and price are correct. Product-page extraction does not prove that the item is compatible with the existing installation.
Retailer prices, availability and delivery charges can change. A fixed quote is based on the product price stated in the final quote and is valid only until its expiry time. If the product becomes unavailable before purchase, we will offer a suitable alternative or refund the relevant unused product amount.
Where the customer already owns the item, no product purchase price is included unless expressly listed. Defective, incomplete or incompatible customer-owned items may prevent completion and may require a revised booking.
8. Scope changes and additional work
Work requested after the quote is accepted, or work that is materially different from the confirmed scope, is additional work. We will explain any additional price before proceeding. The customer is not required to accept additional work.
9. Safety and specialist work
Unsafe electrical symptoms, gas concerns, concealed leaks, structural issues and work requiring specialist testing, certification or another regulated trade may be paused, declined or referred to an appropriately qualified contractor. A normal fixed repair price is not promised for investigation of an unknown fault unless expressly stated.
10. Access, parking and waiting time
The customer must provide safe and reasonable access at the agreed time. Any parking, permit, congestion, key-collection or building-management costs included in the quote will be listed before payment. Undisclosed restrictions or unreasonable waiting may require a revised arrangement.
11. Online cancellation rights
Where statutory cancellation rights apply to an online service contract, the customer will receive the required cancellation information and a cancellation form in a format they can keep. If the customer asks for the service to begin during the statutory cancellation period, a separate express request will be obtained before work begins.
If the customer cancels after expressly requesting an early start, the customer may be required to pay a proportionate amount for services already supplied and reasonable costs properly incurred, as permitted by law. Nothing in these terms removes any cancellation right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Our responsibility
We will provide the agreed service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts the customer’s statutory rights or our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be excluded.
13. Confirmation and records
Before payment, the customer will be shown the job scope, selected products, total price or booking charge, assumptions, cancellation information and these terms. After payment, the customer will receive confirmation in a format that can be saved, including the quote reference and accepted terms.
14. Cancellation form
A model cancellation form and the email and postal address for sending it will be added before paid bookings are activated.
